About

The British Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (BSPRM) is a charity registered with the Charity Commission and a medical Society dedicated to rehabilitation.

Our Constitution sets out our charitable goals, summarised as increasing the availability of high-quality rehabilitation to anyone with any disability in the UK population.

Our objectives are to:

  1. Promoting the understanding and delivery of rehabilitation within society for the benefit of anyone with any disability.
  2. Promoting the speciality of rehabilitation medicine; the medical component of multiprofessional rehabilitation teams.
  3. Educating health professionals about rehabilitation.
  4. Developing clinical and professional practice standards, including advice on measuring and improving adherence to the standards.
  5. Promoting and facilitating research in rehabilitation, and ensuring the useful results of such research are disseminated
  6. To advance the education of the public in general, via health professionals, on the subject of rehabilitation and how that can be used to support people with disabilities.

The Society welcomes people from all other professions with a specific interest in rehabilitation. In addition to doctors specialising in Rehabilitation Medicine, our Society includes all doctors interested in rehabilitation, such as paediatricians, neurologists, rheumatologists and geriatricians.

We are a small Society but growing, and we have had a significant impact on the quality of rehabilitation services through our publications. We are committed to working collaboratively with people and organisations who share our goal of helping people with disabilities of any type, arising from any cause, to achieve a better quality of life.
